Today, psychological issues constitute a major part of our patient complaints.In Classical Chinese medicine, the psyche and the emotions are considered the roots of all diseases.
The ancient traditions have emphasized the impact of mind-sets and emotions on the body. Furthermore, in classical acupuncture, many points have been described as having specific psychological effects. In spite of these facts, the psyche of the patient seems to have been greatly overlooked in many of the modern TCM practices.
This series aims to provide the necessary understanding and appropriate tools for dealing with the hidden dimensions of disease, and to help re-integrate psychology into the TCM practice, and to help go deeper in seeking the roots of our patient's complaints.
The proposed treatment strategies combine classical Chinese medical concepts and acupuncture with specific Qigong exercises as well as some modern cognitive therapy work.

The role of emotions, as internal causes of disease, have been well known in the Chinese medical practice. Emotions having evolved from primary instincts, are human responses to the outer world, and depend primarily on individual mind-sets. The outer world is perceived through the lens of the Shen ≈ Psyche and processed by the Luo ≈ Connecting vessels. The human basic “Constitution” is transmitted by the parental essences (Jing). In the pre-natal stage, the constitution will influence the preferential development of specific organ systems, thus defining the physiology and the morphology of the person. The body is both a source and a storage site for the emotions, especially after a trauma. Overwhelming traumatic events are subconsciously retained by “Hun” and “Po”. The reactivation of these subconscious emotional and physical memories, are experienced as a variety of psychological and physical manifestations, quite often un-related to a given situation. Course Overview
The body is both a source and a storage site for the emotions, especially after a trauma. Overwhelming traumatic events are subconsciously retained by “Hun” and “Po”. The reactivation of these subconscious emotional and physical memories, are experienced as a variety of psychological and physical manifestations, quite often un-related to a given situation. These conditions may range from un-explained physical pains or physiological reactions, to emotional or psychological manifestations as seen in phobias, personality disorders, panic attacks or PTSD, just to mention a few.
