Balance Method for Pain and TCM Food Therapeutics for Animals

Course Overview

Please note: This course is intended for Veterinarians who are already trained in TCVM. Dr. Bruce Ferguson is a TCM Veterinarian whose successful application of TCM and acupuncture techniques in his practice has propelled him into becoming a leading teacher in these techniques. In this specially designed two-day recorded workshop for veterinarians (recorded at the 2011 Canadian Oriental Medical Symposium), Dr. Ferguson shares with practitioners his clinical applications of acupuncture and dietary therapy for animals. The first 4 sections focus on the Wei (Atrophy) and Bi (Painful Obstruction) acupuncture module of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM). He outlines strategies for positive clinical outcomes and conducts a quick review of the basics of Dr. Richard Tan’s Balance Method and 5 acupuncture subsystems. Then, he will introduces new distal point placement and function which he has developed for small quadrupeds. With these points understood, he introduces the concept of Dynamic Balance and its use in clinical practice. Lastly, he will use live patient cases to diagnose and treat using the techniques and methods introduced in this module. The last 4 sections delve into TCVM food therapy. Finally, Dr. Ferguson shares the Zang-Fu and Eight Principle concept for food therapeutics and its application in practice.
