Course Overview

This audio/visual course by master acupuncturist Kiiko Matsumoto presents a detailed approach to common, severe digestive problems.

It includes a presentation of the 9 Star system, which is a foundational part of Chinese Medical thought. In Chinese Medical theory, the 5 Elements/10 Stems are considered related to the heavenly level. The 12 branches, 12 meridians, 12 yearly cycles are considered related to earthly level. The middle level between these is the 9 stars, the human level, between heaven and earth. Each section of the nine star map relates to one of the five elements, and 3 of the 9 star areas relate to Earth.

This class discusses these positions of the earth element on the abdomen, the direct relationship to the small intestine, and many digestive disorders that reflect on the abdomen (hara) with this exact pattern of pressure pain. Theory and didactic information is given on how to approach digestive disorders that may clearly have the diagonal 9 Star pattern of earth/small intestine pressure pain on the abdomen (hara), A base treatment of left SI 3, right Bl 62 is worked up, with multiple variations. Emotional and physical trauma accompany many painful digestive conditions, and is addressed using acupuncture points over related brain pain/memory areas.

Course Objectives

• Educate practitioners in Classical Chinese theory of the 9 Stars.
• Provide didactic information on the application of the 9 stars to many digestive disorders, including Celiac, Crohn's, GB disorders, Colitis, Reflux, and chronic Stomach pain, using variations on the base treatment.
• Teach practitioners to differentiate between the usage of acupuncture point choices as they are applied to specific incidents, and include trauma release points as appropriate.

1 hrs - 2 hrsAcupuncture lecture regarding Crohn's, with usage of points for inflammation, such as Bl 63.

2 hrs - 3 hrsAcupuncture lecture regarding chronic digestive and GYN abdominal pain, discussion of left SI 3 and right BL 62.

3 hrs - 4 hrsAcupuncture lecture regarding chronic stomach pain, and Gall bladder points over the eyes for trauma release.

4 hrs - 5 hrsAcupuncture lecture regarding Celiac disease, and the usage St 11 for lymphatic duct drainage.

5 hrs - 6 hrsAcupuncture lecture regarding diaphragmatic restriction, and diode usage.

6 hrs - 7 hrsAcupuncture lecture regarding post-giardia complications, post antibiotics, and the usage of GB 37.

7 hrs - 8 hrsAcupuncture lecture regarding ulcerative colitis, including GB points over the limbic brain, GB 8 and 9.

8 hrs - 9 hrsAcupuncture lecture regarding reflux, with differentiation between deep and shallow pressure on CV 17, and T 9, and usage of Bl 27.

9 hrs - 10 hrsAcupuncture lecture regarding gall bladder polyps, including Liv 8, GB 43,44.

10 hrs - 11 hrsAcupuncture lecture regarding effects of multiple abdominal surgeries, discussing multiple pain interactions.
