Obstetrics and Acupuncture is aimed at all midwives, whether or not they practice acupuncture, as well as all practitioners in the field of maternity.
Articulated in four parts, this book summarizes the contribution of Traditional Chinese Medicine in obstetrics, with the aim of acquiring new skills to enrich their daily practice and improve the well-being of patients.
The first part recalls the essential concepts for understanding Traditional Chinese Medicine.
The second part makes the link between the clinical examination of the acupuncturist and that of the midwife through the four stages (questioning, seeing, listening/smelling and palpating) whose practices are close. Thus, their respective roles are mainly centered on prevention by treating imbalances without dissociating the physical and psychological aspects. When a pathology appears, acupuncture reveals its effectiveness by intervening in addition to the usual therapies.
The third part deals with the physiopathology of pregnancy as well as the functions of the various acupuncture points, in particular those useful in obstetrics.
Finally, the last part takes up support for pregnancy, labor and postpartum disorders. It offers first-line protocols, which the midwife can adapt to her practice, as well as the acupuncture points treating the clinical pictures.
The simple, airy and colorful presentation of this comprehensive 896-page book makes it a real tool available to midwives or any obstetrics practitioner who can use it throughout their professional practice. .
The work presented by Annabelle Pelletier-Lambert represents the synthesis of long years of concrete learning and studies followed with many teachers.
She presents it here from a perspective that is both respectful of the traditional background specific to the formulation of Chinese medicine and concerned to convey its practical aspects in a very detailed and rich way.
The precision of his references and the impressive range of his citations show that such productive research could only manifest itself through the maintenance of an intense passion coupled with a highly organized thought.
