Course Overview
Jake Fratkin uses his 44 years of clinical experience to present several lectures on Gynecological topics. Lecture 2 focuses on 4 common gynecological conditions: Amenorrhea and Dysmenorrhea. We will compare the Western biomedical understanding with the modern TCM approach. The in-depth discussion will include pattern differentiation, and application of modern herbal formulas and modern herbal products. Custom formulas and case histories from Jake's clinical practice will be included.Course Objectives
- Learn Western biomedical organization of common gynecological presentations.
- Learn TCM organization and energetic physiology of certain gynecological disorders.
- Learn TCM patterns causing Amenorrhea, Dysmenorrhea.
- Learn relevant herbal formulas and products to address various TCM patterns behind Amenorrhea and Dysmenorrhea. Class discussion will allow herbal modifications and substitutions.

15 min - 30 minDiscussion of Amenorrhea in modern biomedicine, including the differentiation of primary amnorrhea and secondary amenorrhea, with common etiological causes. Lab analysis of relevant hormones, and current medical treatment is discussed.
30 min - 2 hrsDiscussion of Amenorrhea in modern TCM, focusing on common patterns and relevant formulas for Kidney Deficiency, Deficiency of Qi and Blood, Qi and Bood Stagnation, and Phlegm-Damp Obstruction.
2 hrs - 3 hrsDiscussion of patterns and treatments of Dysmenorrhea in modern TCM. Patterns include Blood Stasis, Liver Stasis of Qi and Blood, Blood Deficiency, Obstruction of Cold and Damp, and Descent of Damp-Heat.
